JILL ALPER

FOUNDER 

Jill is a nationally recognized strategist with a winning record at the highest level of politics and advocacy. She's orchestrated historic party wins by bringing cutting-edge technologies and message-tested voter contact products to the field. As an award-winning consultant for strategy and advertising, Jill specializes in building expert teams and strategies for her clients.

 

Formerly the Political Director and Coordinated Campaign Director of the Democratic National Committee, Jill has worked with campaigns in

all 50 states and is a veteran of 8 presidential races. 

 

Though she continues to assist clients throughout the country, Jill is based in suburban Detroit, where she’s worked on all but two winning campaigns in Michigan over 30 years, serving as a Senior Strategist for leaders like Mayor Dave Bing, Governor Jennifer Granholm and Senator Carl Levin and numerous presidential campaigns; for independent committees to elect candidates like Mayor Mike Duggan; and, on ballot initiatives to legalize stem cell research, to save the Detroit Institute of Arts, and to end gerrymandering. 

 

Jill has helped businesses, non-profits, and electoral campaigns with product positioning, grassroots organizing, paid media design and production, speech coaching, research, data and analytics, communications, digital media, multicultural media and team development. The American Association of Political Consultants honored her work for Governor Jennifer Granholm as “Campaign Manager of the Year", a recognition often given to presidential campaign managers and seldom given to women.

CASEY HANSEN

ACCOUNT MANAGER & DIRECTOR OF PAID MEDIA

Casey provides client management services, focusing on the firm's Paid Media and Communications practices, and designs and executes public affairs strategies to target and influence voters and stakeholders alike. An active participant in new business efforts, she also identifies the latest trends and technologies to apply to the firm's work. 

 

Coordinating workflow among our team, Casey ensures timely delivery of strategic plans and creative products to a number of high-profile clients. Most recently, she managed the largest Detroit-focused voter education effort from conception to execution. Her critical thinking skills 

and attention to detail ensures every product brings innovative strategies to life.

Casey manages research, message development, and production for political, nonprofit and corporate clients. In 2018, she directed the production of 13 television spots and 4 radio ads for Voters Not Politicians, a $17M non-partisan grassroots campaign to end gerrymandering in Michigan. The campaign won a Pollie Award for "Best Television Campaign" in the Ballot Initiative Division.

Casey graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Political Science and History and resides in Washington, D.C.

ANGELA SHIUE

CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE & DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

Angela oversees firm administration and supports governmental affairs operations. She manages and serves as company leader for client operations, including contract management, daily scheduling, meetings and implementation calendars for media production, electoral and public affairs campaigns. Most recently, she simultaneously oversaw the budgets and expenditures for the largest Detroit-focused voter education effort and a state-wide media campaign educating citizens to vote following the passage of Proposal 3. 

Angela curates events of all kinds and sizes, including virtual engagements and fundraisers for constituents with prominent Michigan leaders and large in-depth conferences for executives. Angela supplies client-partners with project management plans, including research, briefing materials, and agendas.

 

Angela graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Political Science, and resides in Dearborn.

ALLAIRE DONOHUE

CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE & GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING LEADER

Allaire focuses on community organizing, coalition building, outreach and community engagement. She conducts background research, designs and implements effective public affairs plans, ensuring visibility, person-to-person connection and mobilization.

 

Allaire is also part of our creative and production team including website design, visuals for digital, television and print ads, ad research back-up and social media.

Allaire is originally from Grand Rapids Michigan and has a BA in Political Science, Spanish and International Studies from the University of Michigan.

PAUL RIVERA is a Democratic activist and strategist, with more than 20 years of experience in government, elections and public advocacy. He started his career in politics at the 1992 Democratic Convention held in New York City, and served in the Clinton White House from 1994 through 2000. He is a veteran of four presidential elections and six national party conventions. As an independent strategist since 2005, he has worked on campaigns and independent expenditure efforts across the United States.

JANET KATOWITZ brings a breadth of campaign experience coupled with the media edge of Madison Avenue. Janet is innovative in developing new and effective ways to reach voters throughout their entire day. Clients are provided the greatest amount of information possible when placing buys, including carefully crafted competitive trackers analyzing their opponents’ spending in real-time.

MINYON MOORE is considered one of the nation’s top strategic thinkers with extensive experience in political, corporate affairs, and public policy. She specializes in building coalitions and brand awareness strategies for corporations while effectively addressing their state and local public policy issues. Under President Bill Clinton’s administration, Minyon served as Assistant to the President and Director of White House Political Affairs. As the CEO of the Democratic National Committee, Minyon was responsible for day-to-day operations and oversight of the Democratic Party. In 2018, Minyon served was awarded the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) Lifetime Achievement Award and has been inducted into the AAPC Hall of Fame.

BUZZ THOMAS is a public affairs professional with nearly 20 years of experience. Buzz spent 14 years in the Michigan legislature, including serving as Democratic Floor Leader in the Senate and as Democratic Leader in the House. His success in the legislature led to more than two-dozen leadership awards, ranging from being named in the legislator of the year by the Michigan Association of Regions to earning the Peacemaker Award from Wayne State University.

TERENCE A. THOMAS has experience providing professional and technical services to public and private entities and interests. Terence was previously the chief advocacy and corporate responsibility officer at St. John Providence Health System (an Ascension Health Ministry) and oversaw compliance, risk, corporate, legal and government affairs. Prior to joining the healthcare provider, Terence was a principal at Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone, P.L.C. His areas of practice included commercial litigation, intellectual property and emerging business development.

MILES BAKER is a campaign strategist with 12 years of experience in candidate campaigns, ballot campaigns, labor unions, and advocacy organizations. Previously, he served in the campaigns department of the National AFL-CIO. His advocacy efforts have taken him to over 20 states working on federal, state, and local efforts. Democracy renewal, healthcare policy, and black coffee get him up in the morning.

AMELIA QUILON is a communications professional with expertise in digital strategy, fundraising, and design. As a former engineer, she specializes in developing data-driven strategies to help clients make smart, creative decisions from optimizing email appeals, running lead generation campaigns to grow lists, and designing unique, targeted campaign content. Amelia is a self-taught graphic and website designer with a passion for engaging voters and activists in causes that matter.

MATT FRIEDMAN leads teams and works directly with clients to develop and implement traditional and emerging communications strategies that support business objectives. Matt is a recognized crisis communications strategist, helping to guide organizations of all sizes through periods of “bad news” and times of change. Matt is also an experienced media trainer, combining his news and PR experience to create customized training sessions for clients nationwide to learn how to tell their stories and deliver their messages through interviews with journalists.

CELIA FISCHER brings extensive experience developing integrated strategic communications programs, campaigns, advertising, and messaging for political, non-profit, and corporate organizations.​ A member of the independent caucus of the Writer's Guild of America/West, Celia won first place in the prestigious Samuel Goldwyn Writing Awards. Whether writing and producing commercials for independent expenditure groups or overseeing a national trade association’s complex $40 million annual advertising campaign, she balances a disciplined approach to strategy and message with her passion and respect for the creative process. Her reputation as an imaginative thinker and skilled manager was earned after working on four Presidential races, directing ballot initiatives, and leading campaigns for Governor, U.S. Senate, Congress, and other offices.

DAN MACDONALD brings 35 years of journalism and corporate communications experience. He spent 20 years as an award-winning broadcast journalist before transitioning to public affairs where he led communications teams at Bridgestone Americas and Dollar General. He focuses on media relations, crisis communications, reputation management, message development, video production, speech writing and implementing strategic communications campaigns to drive business results.
